First Night of February in Nizhny Novgorod Was Snowiest of Week

Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod Yuri Shalabaev noted that the past night was the snowiest in the entire week of bad weather. As the mayor wrote in his Telegram channel, just since the evening, 25 centimeters of new snow had accumulated.

Thus, during the night, 45 thousand cubic meters of snow were removed from city roads and streets — the highest figure for all recent snowy days.
At the same time, due to the blizzard, freshly cleared roads and sidewalks were again covered with snow. The situation in courtyards is no less difficult. According to the mayor, a car buried in a parking lot is not the biggest nuisance in this case.
“Courtyards are for the passage of emergency service vehicles and garbage removal from container sites. I ask all responsible parties to keep this in mind when organizing their work, no matter how difficult it is right now. And right now it is really tough, all the efforts of road workers are immediately covered by the ongoing blizzard,” wrote the mayor.
Also, the administration asks not to leave cars just anywhere so as not to interfere with the work of special equipment. This especially applies to parking near tram tracks. Also, drivers are asked to temporarily move their cars if special equipment is working in the courtyard.
Earlier, the administration also reported that the snowfall will continue throughout today. By evening, the bad weather should subside, and then they promise to intensify the removal of snow from roads and streets.
