Free Author Doll Exhibition ‘Magic of Fairy Tales’ Opens

The author doll exhibition «Magic of Fairy Tales» (suitable for all ages) has opened at the «Other Circles» art space in the Central Exhibition Hall on Kompros Street, 10. We toured the display and are sharing what we saw.
The «Magic of Fairy Tales» author doll exhibition features works by talented Perm women: Yulia Motrich, Natalia Kerbil, Marina Ketova, Evgenia Shvetsova, Tatyana Saburova, Nadezhda Shashova, Lyudmila Lyutikova, and Svetlana Kislukhina. All of them are dedicated to fairy tale characters or inspired by them.
«Together with Perm author doll artists, we will return to childhood fantasies, immerse ourselves in the past, remember that beauty is in ordinary things that surround us every day,» the organizers announced the exhibition. «And we will also listen to fairy tales, make wishes, and create a magical mood. Let»s try to learn to dream again and believe — happiness exists!«
The exposition is located in a small exhibition hall — while examining the dolls, visitors move in a circle. At one of the display cases, a speaker with quiet classical music reminiscent of fairy tales was installed. We walked through the hall and examined each figure. Almost all dolls depict people and fairy tale characters, but there are exceptions: for example, Tatyana Saburova»s is a crow in lace.
In childhood, Tatyana Saburova attended an arts school and an art studio, where she tried creating sculptures from limestone and plasticine. She carried this hobby into adult life.
All figures at the exhibition are handmade, and the costumes for them were sewn by the craftswomen themselves. The author«s style is noticeable immediately: each craftswoman has her own ways of working out details. Thus, Yulia Motrich»s dolls attract the eye with small details on the costumes and refinement.
Yulia indicated in her business card: she studied and worked a lot, including in managerial positions at large companies, and one day decided to try herself in creativity. The activity captivated Yulia, and such dolls with thoughtful outfits and hairstyles began to appear. She makes them from Living Doll polymer clay and textiles.
Natalia Kerbil creates both characters in historical costumes, and portrait dolls, and animals. She uses various materials: self-hardening plastic paperclay, self-hardening clay La Doll, liquid casting plastic Fumo.
Evgenia Shvetsova«s dolls are rosy-cheeked and mysterious characters. Evgenia works as an economist, but dolls have become her hobby and she is proud of it.
Marina Ketova makes dolls from porcelain, with them she has participated in international doll salons. In the description of Marina«s works, it is indicated that all her dolls are unique and almost all »live« in private collections.
On one of the exhibition display cases, sketches and fragments of figures, as well as finished dolls, are laid out — the creative process is recreated.
We show a few more works. The composition with the amusing and unusual title «Oh, what beads... I wish I had such» is a replica of an antique doll. It is made from Fumo material, textiles, and leather.
The exhibition «Magic of Fairy Tales» can be seen until December 14 inclusive, admission is free. On Mondays, the art space does not work.
Earlier we told about Perm doll maker Albina Glumova — her creations «live» in other countries, where collectors hunt for the elegant figures.
