Preparations for the spring flood have begun in Kurgan Oblast. Governor Vadim Shumkov wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

«I asked colleagues to get in touch with neighboring regions, on whose territories reservoirs are located that discharge water into the Tobol. I asked them to work out a discharge schedule ahead of spring. We also sent a request to the intergovernmental commission to monitor the situation.

But we must do what we can to minimize possible consequences,« the head of the region noted.

He lamented that «in 2024, some responsible individuals told us »until the bitter end« that everything was within normal limits.»

«And when the water started to rise, they sent a map in which Kurgan »drowned« and then removed themselves. If it weren»t for the direct support of Vladimir Putin and the selfless work of thousands of locals and colleagues from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, then the consequences in the literal sense would have taken a very long time to «clean up»,« added Vadim Shumkov.
