Sharipzyanov Continues to Break Records for Avangard Omsk

Following yesterday«s match against Avtomobilist, Avangard Omsk captain Damir Sharipzyanov recorded two more achievements. As reported by the team»s press service, this game was his 408th appearance for Avangard. With this number, he has surpassed Igor Nikitin (407 games) and moved into 10th place on the club«s all-time games played list. Nikitin played for the Omsk team from 1997 to 2006 and now coaches CSKA Moscow.
Sharipzyanov is in his sixth season with Avangard, having played his first match for the club on September 3, 2020, against Sibir Novosibirsk. The absolute record holder for games played is Alexander Popov, who appeared in 865 matches for the Omsk club.
The achievements of the «Hawks» captain didn«t stop there. As reported by the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) press service, yesterday Damir Sharipzyanov became the third defenseman in KHL history to record 50 or more points in two or more regular seasons. Alexander Nizhny Novgorod and Kevin Dallman have each had two such seasons. Sharipzyanov»s tally included an assist in the 2:1 victory over Avtomobilist.
