Salavat Yulaev is close to settling all its debts, according to the hockey club«s general director Rinat Bashirov in an interview with Sport Express.

According to the club«s head, most of the amount — about 700 million rubles (approximately $7.8 million at current rates) — has already been paid off, with around 160 million rubles (roughly $1.8 million at current rates) remaining. Bashirov noted that as of today, Salavat Yulaev has no salary debts.

«We will cover the remaining amount in the off-season. We think that contracts with advertisers will come through then. The republic»s leadership is currently conducting difficult negotiations with sponsors. There is hope that our budget will be increased. This will allow us to start the season without debts,« Bashirov believes.

Earlier it was reported that in Ufa, one of the first hockey players of Salavat Yulaev, Gennady Bakhariev, passed away. The sports legend was 85 years old.
