Avangard Omsk captain Damir Sharipzyanov has been recognized as the best defenseman for the past week in the KHL. As reported by the league«s press service, the player from the Omsk club scored 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) in two games with a plus-5 rating. He also recorded two hits, four blocked shots, and two takeaways.

This is the 12th time in his career that Sharipzyanov has been named the KHL«s best defenseman, and the second week in a row — previously, Damir also earned this status.

These are far from all the achievements of the Avangard captain. We previously reported that Damir Sharipzyanov became the first defenseman to record a second hat trick in his career. Moreover, the captain of the Hawks became the third defenseman in KHL history to score 50 or more points in two or more regular seasons.

He also holds a club record — 408 games for Avangard. With this, the defenseman has entered the top 10 players who have played the most games for the Hawks.
