Bob Hartley explains the phenomenon of Alexander Radulov

On January 27, HC Lokomotiv defeated SKA from St. Petersburg in an away game. The match ended with a score of 3–1 in favor of the Yaroslavl side.
At the post-match press conference, journalists asked Lokomotiv coach Bob Hartley about the source of the 39-year-old forward Alexander Radulov«s seemingly boundless energy.
«I can«t explain where he gets the energy from. But he is an excellent professional, the first one on the ice at practice and often the last to leave. The ice palace is his home. He carries that through his entire career. He is one of those hockey players who truly value and love the game,» the Yaroslavl coach replied.
For context, Alexander Radulov is originally from Nizhny Tagil. He has played in the NHL, for Salavat Yulaev, CSKA, and Ak Bars. He joined the Yaroslavl team before the 2024/2025 season and, alongside his teammates, won the Gagarin Cup. During the New Year holidays, Lokomotiv signed a new contract with Alexander Radulov until the end of the 2026/2027 season. The player«s agency explained that the decision was mutual.
«It was important for us to understand whether Sasha himself was ready to keep playing. The man feels he has the strength and is ready to extend his career. We didn«t even think about other clubs. Radulov is completely satisfied with everything in Yaroslavl,» stated Alexander»s representatives.
