Two micro-explosions reported before Volgograd store fire

On January 24, a fire occurred in a two-story building at 98b Angarskaya Street in the Dzerzhinsky district of Volgograd. The blaze broke out in a Fix Price store, where goods caught fire.

The press service of the Russian Ministry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM) for Volgograd Region stated:

On January 24, a report was received about a fire in the Dzerzhinsky district of Volgograd. In a two-story building, on the second floor, retail products are burning over an area of 100 square meters. Fire and rescue units are extinguishing the fire. Thirty-five people have been evacuated, with no fatalities or injuries.

Teams from several fire stations, as well as ambulance and emergency gas service brigades, quickly arrived at the scene. The fire was localized at 14:36 over an area of 100 square meters.
An employee of the Magnit store located on the first floor reported that during work, she smelled smoke.
«Our colleagues, the girls, told me: »Fix Price is on fire,«» a correspondent conveyed her words. «Well, we all immediately went out, no people were hurt. What the losses are — we don»t know yet, EMERCOM isn«t letting anyone in. We»re waiting for management.«
All stores in the building are temporarily closed, and the smell of smoke lingers in the air.
The fire also damaged the Magnit Cosmetic department. According to eyewitnesses, shortly before the fire, they heard two micro-explosions.
The cause of the incident is to be determined by specialists from the Main Directorate of EMERCOM for the region.
