A fire in a five-story dormitory in Orsk claimed two lives on January 22, while a separate blaze in Orenburg left one man dead, with careless smoking suspected as the cause.

In Orenburg Oblast, a fire broke out on the night of January 22, claiming lives. According to the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), it occurred in a five-story dormitory on Stanislavsky Street.
The fire-damaged room on the fourth floor where the blaze originated, covering 12 square meters.

According to preliminary information, the call came to the dispatcher at 01:19 — a room was on fire on the fourth floor. Eleven people and four units of equipment arrived at the scene: with their efforts, the fire was localized by 01:42 and completely extinguished by 02:19.

The area affected by the fire was 12 square meters. Using rescue equipment, EMERCOM employees evacuated four people from neighboring apartments, but in the very room where the fire occurred, it was no longer possible to save lives. A 55-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman died.
Also, another deadly fire occurred in Orenburg on Grigoryevskaya Street. There, a residential house was ablaze over an area of 40 square meters. Fourteen firefighters and three units of equipment were on site. They pulled one man from the fire, but the second (a 40-year-old man) could not be saved. The preliminary cause of the fire was careless smoking.
