Tram hits pedestrian in Volgograd outside regional police HQ

Witnesses report a serious accident in the center of Volgograd: on Golubinskaya Street, near the building of the main investigative department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Volgograd region, a tram hit a woman. Her condition is currently unknown.

Due to the accident, the movement of tram routes No. 2, 5, 7, and 10 was temporarily suspended. The dispatcher did not specify when service would be restored but noted the accident was serious.

«There»s an incident on the line. Traffic will resume once it«s cleared,» a dispatcher said.

Neighboring establishments reached by phone were not yet aware of the accident.

«We had enough with a car accident last week, and now a tram… But we haven»t heard about this yet,« one said.

A V1.RU correspondent tried to get details from the agency near where the emergency occurred but was redirected to the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs. The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Volgograd region promised to clarify the circumstances of the incident later.

The regional health committee specified that the victim was taken to Hospital No. 25, where she is currently being examined.

Recall that a week earlier at the same location, a Ford Focus collided with one of the «Lvov-type» trams: the car was trying to cross the tram tracks, but crashed into a tram moving perpendicularly.
