Teacher hits elementary student in Kazan private school
A video showing the teacher«s behavior towards the student has been widely circulated.
A teacher at the private Kazan school Top IT School has been accused of abusing students: in a video that went viral online, she was shouting at a second-grader and poking him in the head. The administration admitted that such a situation occurred and apologized. Details of the situation were told to a 116.RU correspondent by the mother of one of the students.
The teacher hit her son Damir on the forehead after trying to explain an assignment to him.
«What letter do we start a sentence with? How many times do I have to tell you?» the teacher says in the video.

The boy has speech development issues, which prevent him from responding to the teacher«s attacks, his mother noted.
According to our interviewee, this is not the first time this has happened: allegedly, the teacher systematically humiliates children, makes them cry, shouts at them, and pushes them. The mother of the child in the video said that recently she and two other parents filed a complaint with the police.
The school administration told parents that the teacher has already been fired under a specific article, but they have not provided the promised dismissal order.
«I asked for the order to make sure she can«t go work in another school, but they haven»t sent it to me, even though they promised. So that, God forbid, she doesn«t go work in another school or kindergarten and harm other children. This is a paid school, and it turns out that I»m paying 40,000 rubles (approximately $444 at current rates) a month for my child to be beaten and abused?» the boy«s mother said indignantly.
She emphasized that she does not intend to «let this slide» and will together with other parents seek criminal responsibility for the teacher. The mother took the child for a forensic medical examination to document the injuries.
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan told a 116.RU correspondent that they are conducting an investigation together with the prosecutor«s office of Tatarstan.
We also received a response from the institution. The administration of Top IT School stated that this story was unexpected and caused concern among the staff, since until this point the teacher «had been characterized exclusively by positive reviews and the absence of any complaints or conflicts».
«We deeply regret the incident related to the behavior of our teacher, who allowed himself unacceptable behavior towards a child. We are sincerely sorry that this happened, and we recognize the full seriousness of the situation,» it says in the response to 116.RU«s request.
The school conducted an internal investigation, and the management took disciplinary measures. How exactly the teacher was punished is not specified.
«We offer sincere apologies to the child and his family, and also express readiness to provide necessary support and assistance,» added the administration.
The private school teaches children from grades 1 to 11 and, according to reviews and the description of the educational organization, is liked by Kazan residents and famous for its progressive approach to learning. The cost of classes starts from 40,000–45,000 rubles (approximately $444–$500 at current rates).
