A student from Yakutsk College of Innovative Technologies was beaten. The 18-year-old was standing at a bus stop when a group of people approached and assaulted him. The youth suffered a broken jaw, was hospitalized, and underwent surgery. The victim«s stepmother claims the attack was motivated by ethnic hatred. She reported this to the 14.RU editorial office.

According to her, the incident occurred on the evening of November 7 at the «203 Microdistrict» bus stop in Yakutsk. She asserts that the victim did not provoke or engage in any conflict, and the group of young people allegedly approached him deliberately and began beating him. Moreover, according to the stepmother, ethnic slurs were heard.

“My son’s biological mother is Russian, his father is Tajik. I have been raising him for many years and he has become like my own, and I will stand by him to the end. We called an ambulance on November 9 when the swelling increased and the pain became unbearable. Police came to the hospital, and we filed a report the same day, detailing what happened,” the victim’s stepmother told the correspondent.

At the time of publication, a comment from the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic (MVD) could not be obtained — an employee had not responded to a question in a messenger for several days. The 14.RU editorial office sent a written request to clarify the circumstances.

The youth was hospitalized in the maxillofacial surgery department of Republican Hospital No. 2 and underwent surgery on his lower jaw: a titanium plate was installed, and documents confirming the surgery are in the possession of 14.RU. The diagnosis also indicated that the young man suffered traumatic periodontitis (inflammation of the tissues around the tooth root after mechanical injury, — Ed. note). He was discharged from the hospital on November 17.

For now, he can only eat broth; chewing is prohibited because he cannot open his jaw.

“The police told us not to worry and that they would find those who beat him and who organized it all. But there is still no answer,” the woman says.
