Security Guards Charged with Murder at Shopping Mall

The St. Petersburg branch of the Investigative Committee has charged two security guards from the Perekrestok store with the murder of a young man. The incident occurred at the City Mall trade and entertainment complex on Kolomyazhsky Prospekt.
According to the investigation, on the evening of January 21, the security guards unlawfully detained a 24-year-old visitor and applied chokeholds, leading to mechanical asphyxia and death.
A third suspect, a 32-year-old foreigner, managed to fly to Uzbekistan before police learned of the incident and has been declared wanted. Investigators have submitted a petition to the court for the arrest of the accused.
According to case materials, the detained man attempted to resist using an aerosol pistol, but was knocked to the floor, after which two security guards piled on him.
The man lost consciousness and later died in the hospital. After this incident, police launched a comprehensive inspection of Perekrestok chain stores.
