Police Search for Men Who Paid with Fake Banknotes in Kurgan

In Kurgan, a seller discovered that customers had paid with counterfeit money. According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kurgan region on 16 January, in one of the city«s shops, a young man paid for purchases with two banknotes and received change of 1,500 rubles (approximately $16 at current rates). Only after the young people left did the seller realize that the money was souvenir banknotes, not legal tender, and immediately contacted the police.
Authorities are seeking two men for using non-legal tender banknotes in a shop transaction.

Police are working to identify the individuals and have released their descriptions. The first man is of non-Slavic appearance, aged 25–30, height 170–175 cm (5«7» to 5«9»), with black hair and a beard. The second man is also 25–30 years old, height 175 cm (5«9»), with a red beard.
Police are asking residents to be more careful when handling money, and if they have doubts about the authenticity of banknotes, to contact the police.
