Nyurba district fire kills five, prompts criminal case

The Investigative Committee of Yakutia has initiated a criminal case for causing death by negligence to two or more persons after five people died in a fire in the village of Nyurbachan, Nyurba district. This was reported on January 28 in the department«s Telegram channel.
After the fire was extinguished, the bodies of three children were found at the scene: ages 15, 12, and 3; with them perished their 49-year-old mother and a 55-year-old relative. In the intensive care unit of Nyurba Central Hospital, a 4-year-old girl and her 27-year-old mother are fighting for their lives, both in extremely critical condition. For treatment strategy, doctors are consulting with specialists from the burn unit of Republican Hospital No. 2 via telemedicine.
Investigators are examining the scene of the tragedy and have seized all necessary items to determine the causes of death. Forensic investigators are on their way to assist them.
The fire occurred on the night of January 28 in a two-story private house. By the time firefighters arrived, the second floor was fully engulfed in flames, and the house was completely destroyed. Ten personnel and two pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
