A massive power outage occurred in Murmansk and Severomorsk on the evening of January 23, damaging five power line support structures.
Regional Governor Andrey Chibis stated on January 24 that specialists would need at least 24 hours to fully restore the electricity supply.
Power to boiler houses has already been restored, and heat is being supplied to residential buildings. Chibis urged residents to limit their use of electrical appliances to avoid overloading the networks.
The outage affected critical infrastructure facilities. The Investigative Committee launched a criminal case, believing that the responsible managers failed to ensure proper maintenance of the power lines and did not take urgent measures at the first signs of the accident.
