The emergency on the heating pipeline in Karabash (in the Chelyabinsk region of Russia) was eliminated on Wednesday, January 21. This was reported by the city district administration.
«Now the heating system is being filled with water. The process of filling the heating system will take approximately two to three hours,» clarified the city hall, adding that city services and utility companies are on high alert.
City head Pavel Titov appealed to residents through the administration: «I ask all Karabash residents to treat the temporary difficulties with understanding.» The city hall promised that employees will work until the normal heating supply mode is fully restored.
Problems with heating and hot water in two districts of the city began the day before. On Wednesday morning, after an attempt to start the repaired system, a new rupture occurred.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), more than 30 residential buildings were left without heat, housing 3,762 people. For those affected by the cold, heating points were deployed on the basis of schools.
The situation is complicated by forecasts from meteorologists, who expect a sharp cold snap in the region already tonight. The temperature in the area could drop to -40 °C (-40 °F).
