Fatal minibus crash on M-5 sparks criminal case

After a crash on the M-5 highway near Sim involving a shuttle minibus, where the driver died and three passengers were injured, a criminal case has been initiated. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.

The criminal case has been initiated under the article on providing services that do not meet safety requirements (Part 1, Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code). The Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, has taken control of the investigation into this case.

Under Part 1, Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements), various penalties are provided — from a fine to two years of imprisonment.

Recall that the crash occurred on the morning of Sunday, January 25. According to the traffic police, a shuttle Volkswagen minibus traveling from Satka to Ufa crashed into a Scania truck, failing to maintain a safe distance. The 43-year-old bus driver died at the scene, and three passengers were taken to the hospital.

On the same day, the daytime shuttle was delayed at the Satka bus station. Passengers informed the 74.RU editorial office that they waited at the bus station for two hours.

«The bus for 3:30 PM didn»t arrive, and there was no information on when another bus would come. The bus station has no heating or toilet, and 20 people were just freezing for two hours,« Olga told us.

The head of the Satka bus station, Dmitry Alpatov, explained to 74.RU that the bus broke down, they tried to fix it but couldn«t. Therefore, after two hours, another one arrived.
