A man was taken to the hospital after being detained at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Mary, located in the Central District of St. Petersburg. The basis for hospitalization was his inappropriate behavior, as reported by law enforcement agencies on January 29.
The incident occurred the day before at the church on Bolshaya Konyushennaya Street. According to Rosgvardia (the National Guard of Russia), around 11 a.m., a man in clerical attire attempted to break down the entrance door by striking it. After the door was opened, he burst inside and hurled insults at the church servants, who immediately activated the alarm system.
Law enforcement officers detained the 45-year-old man on charges of petty hooliganism. After being taken to the police department, he was handed over to a medical team.
The church clarified that the detained man has no connection to the clergy but is already known for his antics in various churches. Previously, he had drawn attention with provocative behavior and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
