Criminal Case Opened After Accident on M-5 Highway

The minibus driver died in the accident, and three passengers were injured. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the incident.

After a road traffic accident on the M-5 highway near Sim, where a scheduled minibus and a truck collided, a criminal case has been opened. As a result of the accident, the 43-year-old bus driver died, and three passengers were taken to a medical facility.
The incident occurred on the morning of January 25. According to preliminary information, a Volkswagen minibus, traveling on the Satka–Ufa route, failed to maintain distance and crashed into a Scania truck.
The investigation opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code on providing services that do not meet safety requirements. The investigation has been taken under personal control by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin. For this crime, punishment is provided in the form of a fine or imprisonment for up to two years.
On the same day, a violation of the bus schedule was recorded. Passengers of the next bus reported a two-hour delay at the bus station in Satka.
