“I brought my child to the kindergarten around 8 a.m. and saw water pouring near the main entrance. We were told to enter from the backyard, so we did. As we were taking off our coats, the entire hall filled with steam. Then the ceiling began to collapse. There was only one teacher in the building! No one else—no guard, no aides. Just one teacher with the kids and this nightmare. Phones were ringing nonstop, emergency services were calling,” said Olga, who had brought her daughter to kindergarten No. 58.

Then steam reached the corridor, and ceiling tiles fell here as well.

Parents began frantically gathering their children.

“Everyone grabbed what they could because the steam had moved into the corridor, and the ceiling started collapsing there too, plus water was rising. From the locker room, we managed to take some things and shoes. Many children had clothes and sandals left there. We were in a hurry because the ceiling began to collapse in the locker room as well, and steam was everywhere. The children were moved to another building,” the interlocutor told 63.RU.

As Olga reported, the building where the burst occurred was recently completely renovated. Emergency services arrived at the building.

“They aren«t doing anything yet, just figuring things out. They said that a heating pipe burst in a room with a balcony above the kindergarten entrance. The radiators are new, all the utilities are new,” the Samara resident explained the situation.

Parents are bewildered at how this could happen.

“Who is responsible for this now? Who will restore everything, and with what money? Are we supposed to do the repairs in this kindergarten ourselves? They did repairs in the summer, but where does the kindergarten get such money? Now everything needs to be done, major repairs, changing ceilings. It«s a catastrophe!” Olga shared her emotions.

The editorial office of 63.RU reached out to T Plus for comment.

“The information needs to be clarified with the managing company. Our utilities are in working order, there are no defects,” reported the heat power engineers.

The city hall also commented on the emergency.

“According to the Department of Education of the Samara Administration, kindergarten No. 58 is located on the first floor of apartment building No. 104 on Galaktionovskaya Street. On the morning of January 26, a leak occurred on the internal utilities in one of the apartments in the building. The kindergarten management promptly moved the children to another building. There are no casualties. The managing company has fixed the leak, and the consequences in the kindergarten will be eliminated,” stated the city administration.

The prosecutor«s office of the Leninsky District also became interested in the incident. Law enforcement shared information that at the time of the ceiling collapse, 12 children were present in the kindergarten.

“A check has been organized on compliance with legislation in the housing and utilities sector, as well as legislation on the protection of minors« rights. Based on the results of the event, a fundamental assessment will be given to the actions of officials responsible for carrying out major repairs of the engineering system in the apartment building in 2025. Representatives from the Capital Repair Fund, the contractor who performed the work, the administration of the Leninsky District, the managing company, and supervisory authorities went to the site of the utility accident. The issue of whether further use of the premises is possible will be resolved. The issue of restoring heating in the apartment building remains under the control of the prosecutor»s office until it is actually resolved,” reported representatives of the prosecutor«s office.

Also this morning, Sredne-Sadovaya Street near the children«s clinic was flooded. See photos from the scene.
