Water penalty coefficient triples for Tyumen residents without meters

In January bills, residents of Tyumen will see an increase in cold water fees if their apartments do not have individual metering devices. The penalty coefficient used in calculations has been increased from 1.5 to 3.
«The same coefficient (x3) applies if the meter is faulty or its verification interval has expired. An exception is the absence of technical possibility for installing individual metering devices. If installing a meter in the apartment is technically impossible, and this is confirmed by a special act, the penalty coefficient is not applied,» said Larisa Borovitskaya, chief state housing inspector of the Tyumen region.
The increase occurred against the backdrop of a general indexation of utility tariffs, which started on January 1 at 1.7%. The next stage of indexation is scheduled for October this year and will amount to 27.9%.
The only way to avoid the application of the increased coefficient is to install a working water meter and conduct its verification in a timely manner.
