Yakutia's Mobile Medical Teams Examine 100,000 in Remote Areas Over Three Years

Mobile medical teams in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) have provided examinations for nearly 100,000 residents of hard-to-reach and Arctic districts over three years. According to the Ministry for the Development of the Arctic, the population of these ulus (districts) is 64,000 people, which is 6.4% of the republic«s total population of one million. This was announced by the head of the republic, Aisen Nikolaev, during a live broadcast on the Sakha TV channel.
«Over these years, we have reached almost 100,000 people. The feedback is very positive, and most importantly, we see that the number of newly identified serious chronic diseases has dropped by almost 99%. That is, during check-ups, many diseases are detected at the earliest stage and do not become chronic,» Nikolaev said.
Thanks to mobile surgical teams based at the Arctic Republican Hospital Complex, about 1,500 operations have already been performed. Residents no longer need to travel to Yakutsk or other regions to receive qualified care.
Special attention is paid to children: pediatric medical teams travel to Arctic districts every year. Since last year, this practice has been expanded to hard-to-reach territories in the Lensky, Aldansky, and other districts.
In 2026, the work of mobile teams will be expanded. Plans include two visits by an adult brigade, one pediatric visit, and one dental visit to each Arctic district, plus additional visits to hard-to-reach settlements.
