Woman nearly dies in Yekaterinburg from heating pad self-treatment
Doctors in Yekaterinburg performed emergency surgery on a woman who had been using a heating pad for abdominal pain.
A resident of Yekaterinburg nearly died from an intestinal obstruction. Instead of going to a doctor, the woman endured the pain and treated herself with a heating pad. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Sverdlovsk Oblast.
«She was admitted to the hospital with complaints of unbearable abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, and severe weakness. As it turned out, the symptoms had been bothering her for several days, but instead of seeing a doctor, the woman tried to solve the problem on her own by taking analgesics and using a heating pad,» the department explained.
The woman underwent emergency surgery at City Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Yekaterinburg. After that, the patient completed a course of intensive therapy. She is currently in the hospital, and her condition is being monitored by doctors.
