Village Infection Outbreak After Water Pipe Repairs

In the Kostroma region, bordering the Yaroslavl region, an outbreak of an acute infectious disease has been registered.
Negative symptoms appeared among residents of the village of Sholokhovo in the Krasnoselsky district shortly after repair work on the local water supply.
According to the investigation, residents of the village of Sholokhovo have shown signs of an acute infectious disease after repair work on the water supply in the settlement. Preliminary information indicates that eight adults and twenty minors sought medical help.
The Investigative Committee reported this on January 28.
A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (performing works or providing services that do not meet safety requirements for the life or health of consumers).
Law enforcement officials have already obtained explanations from the head of the resource-supplying organization and a representative of the administration of the Krasnoselsky district, as well as conducted inspections of the well and the section of the water supply network break.
Employees of Rospotrebnadzor have taken water samples sent for testing. Currently, the investigation is studying the necessary documentation and conducting a set of actions to establish all the circumstances of what happened.
