A seasonal increase in flu and acute respiratory viral infections has been recorded in Tula region. According to weekly monitoring, from January 12 to 17, 4,142 cases of flu and ARIs were registered in the region — a 34% increase from the previous week. Of the total number of cases, 82 flu cases have been confirmed, all detected through laboratory testing.
However, no exceedance of the epidemic threshold among specific age and social groups has been recorded in the region. The epidemiological situation corresponds to the usual seasonal rise for this time of year.
In accordance with sanitary standards, if more than 20% of students in a class or school are absent due to ARIs, the educational process is temporarily suspended.
Specialists recommend that residents of the region observe preventive measures. If symptoms of flu or ARIs appear — weakness, chills, headache, fever, runny nose, or cough — one should refrain from attending events, stay home, and call a doctor. It is also advised to avoid contact with the sick, reduce time spent in crowded places and public transport when possible, use respiratory protection, and maintain social distance.
Particular attention is recommended to personal hygiene: regularly wash hands with soap, observe respiratory etiquette, disinfect gadgets, as well as ventilate rooms more often and conduct wet cleaning. Additionally, walks in fresh air and hardening procedures are beneficial.
