Debates about how often to wash hair do not subside: it is a topic for TV shows and blogger publications. We approached Tyumen trichologist-dermatovenerologist Natalya Bruenok with the same question. She explained that proper hair and scalp care depends on hair type.

«When a person»s sebaceous glands are very active, they will have oily hair. We recommend such patients to wash their hair every day. There is no need to fear this: on the contrary, if not done, the condition of the hair will worsen. Ultimately, this can lead to hair loss and even baldness,« explains the specialist.

If you have dry hair, says the doctor, daily washing is contraindicated: there is a risk of overdrying the scalp. And accordingly, the hair too. For such people, Natalya Bruenok recommends washing hair as needed, but not less than once a week.

Many also often wonder about dandruff. Sometimes it can arise due to improperly chosen shampoo.

«If the shampoo doesn»t suit you, it will overdry the scalp, and it will flake. This is called dry seborrhea — colloquially dandruff. But there are also deeper causes that come from within,« notes Natalya Bruenok.

The answer to this question is part of a larger interview with the doctor, where we also discussed gray hair, ways to combat baldness, and many other issues. To read the full material, follow this link.
