A vacation in Thailand turned into a tragedy for Novosibirsk resident Yevgeny. Doctors diagnosed him with a rare disease — Guillain-Barré syndrome — which completely paralyzed the man. Thanks to the help of concerned people, it was possible to organize the transportation of the Siberian to his hometown.

Yevgeny«s wife Olga, in her Instagram* account, said that on February 3 the couple is flying to Novosibirsk via Moscow.

In addition, an intensive care doctor will join them to accompany the Novosibirsk resident during the flight.

The total cost of the tickets came to 1.5 million rubles (approximately $15,000 at current rates). One of the concerned people fully covered these expenses for the family.

“We have the most difficult recovery ahead. We really hope for Russian medicine and competent doctors. The money that you helped us collect will go towards rehabilitation. On February 4 we will be in Novosibirsk and will be grateful if the City Hospital immediately accepts us for examination,” wrote Olga.

She noted that the insurance company never approved their stay in the Thai hospital. All expenses will have to be covered by the family themselves.

NGS attempted to contact Olga. At the time of publication, she did not respond.
