Margarita Simonyan shares chemotherapy struggles with hair loss
Margarita Simonyan described how chemotherapy courses are affecting her. The head of RT noted that she is sometimes hospitalized in nearby hospitals to stabilize her condition.
As the journalist wrote in her Telegram channel, she underwent her third chemotherapy session on December 7 immediately after returning from the launch of the RT television channel in India. According to Simonyan, the most significant side effects begin on the fifth day after the procedure.
«How do I endure everything? Differently. Sometimes, especially towards the end, before the next chemo, as it was, in fact, in India, it«s generally okay. I live almost like a normal person. My legs are a bit weak, pain everywhere (quite tolerable, however), constant heartburn has been tormenting me, nothing helps. But this, you know, happens to people even without any oncology», — she wrote.
The journalist clarified that the hardest part is in the first days after chemotherapy. Sometimes her blood counts drop dangerously and gastrointestinal problems arise. Then she is hospitalized again for a while.
«That I«m going bald, that taste is disappearing, as with COVID, that skin is deteriorating — that goes without saying. I»m not worried about that. In fact, I admit, I«m not worried about anything, except for managing to raise my children. Everything is in God»s hands. Whatever will be, will be», — concluded Simonyan.
She first spoke about her illness in September, though she did not initially name the diagnosis and avoided details. Later, Margarita admitted that her breast cancer appeared after her husband Tigran Keosayan fell into a coma in December of last year. According to Simonyan, for the first forty days she hardly left the hospital and anxiety for her loved one undermined her strength.
After the death of her husband Tigran Keosayan, who died in September after spending almost a year in a coma without regaining consciousness, work became an outlet for Simonyan. After several chemotherapy courses, she appeared on a talk show hosted by Vladimir Solovyov wearing a wig.
