How Do You Feel? Voronezh Hit by Strongest Magnetic Storm

From midnight on 20 January, the strongest magnetic storm in recent times erupted over central Russia. After weakening slightly by morning, it is expected to regain strength between 12:00 and 15:00.
The cause of the geomagnetic unrest is another solar flare, the most powerful since November 2025, accompanied by a plasma ejection. The plasma cloud is projected to reach Earth by midday, triggering another surge in geomagnetic activity.
This magnetic storm was responsible for the northern lights, which could be observed last night not only in the country«s northern regions but also much further south than usual. In Voronezh, snowfall obstructed the view of the colorful flashes.
Magnetic storms can adversely affect people«s well-being and may cause disruptions in mobile communications and electronic equipment.
