Health Ministry Comments on Mortality Rise at City Hospital No. 1

Officials note that not all residents registered with the hospital seek medical attention from doctors.
The mortality rate among patients with digestive system diseases at Omsk«s Kabanov City Clinical Hospital No. 1 has increased. The hospital received a warning from Roszdravnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare).
The regional Ministry of Health commented on the situation to NGS55.RU. Officials explained that the mortality rate is calculated based on the total number of patients officially registered in the hospital«s catchment area, not all of whom actually visit the hospital, with some even living in other cities.
«The mortality in question was recorded among Omsk residents registered in the service area of City Clinical Hospital No. 1, meaning among 110,000 people. That is the number officially assigned as the hospital»s registered population. Not all these people live in the city, and not all of those who do live here seek care at their assigned medical institution,« the ministry stated.
The department also urged city residents to visit doctors regularly and monitor their health.
«We really want to remind Omsk residents that it is important to periodically visit their clinic and undergo timely medical check-ups. This will allow doctors to prevent disability and an increase in mortality from various causes, including diseases of the digestive system,» the ministry added.
