Frostbite affects 49 in Altai Krai cold spell

During a week of abnormal frosts in Altai Krai, Russia, 49 people, including four children, sought medical help for frostbite, the regional Ministry of Health reported.
Twenty-three people, including three children, received outpatient care. Another 26 victims, including one child, were treated in hospitals.
Since the cold period began on 29 September 2025, 136 people have sought hospital help, nine of them children. Throughout this period, three people have died from their injuries, the department clarified.
The increase in cases is linked to prolonged frosts, with air temperatures dropping to −40 degrees Celsius (−40°F) and below.
