Zhukovsky residents left without heating in -20°C weather
A leak in the heating network causes outages in Zhukovsky, leaving homes without heat in subzero temperatures.
Residents of Zhukovsky in the Moscow Region have complained about the shutdown of heating and hot water in their apartments. Natalia, who lives on Semashko Street, told MSK1.RU that water was cut off at the Zhukovsky Regional Clinical Hospital overnight, and in the morning she came home — it was the same there.
Authorities install portable heaters in building entrances to provide temporary warmth to affected residents.
«There»s no hot water or heating, and it«s minus 20°C (-4°F) outside. The entire old part of the city is in this situation,» Natalia reported.
According to Yandex Weather, it«s currently minus 19°C (-2°F) in the city, but at night the temperature will drop to minus 24°C (-11°F).
Andronik Pak, the head of Zhukovsky Urban District, wrote on Telegram that a leak occurred on the heating network, so «hot water supply and heating parameters have been temporarily reduced.» According to him, the failure affected 31 buildings, and the boiler house operation should be restored by 12:00.
In the comments under Pak«s post, people complain that not all buildings are listed:
- Why isn«t the list complete? Do the others have heat, or what?
- Chkalova, 20 has no heating, it»s not on the list.
- Why are the radiators ice-cold in building 25 on Zhukovsky Street? It«s minus 23°C (-9°F) outside! Have you completely lost your fear?
- There»s no hot water in the hospital, how is that even possible! Sick people can«t wash themselves.
- Not a single winter without incidents on the networks.
Updated. At 12:35, Pak reported on Telegram that heat has started to be supplied on Semashko, Dzerzhinsky, Nizhegorodskaya, Chkalova, and Amet-khan Sultan streets. Three temporary accommodation points have also been prepared: at Gymnasium No. 1, and schools No. 2 and No. 5. Heaters are being installed in the building entrances.
«Until the accident is fully resolved, I will be on site and personally supervise all work,» the district head promised.
