Yaroslavl Allocates Three Times Less for Strelka Park Than Youth Square

In Yaroslavl, funding for the improvement of Strelka park will be three times less than for Youth Square. This was announced at a meeting of the committee on urban planning, transport, safety, and road quality on January 20, 2026.
“50 million rubles (approximately $500,000 at current rates) has been allocated for Strelka, and 167 million rubles (approximately $1.67 million) — for Youth Square near the Youth Theater,” said Elena Dmitrievskaya, deputy minister of construction and housing and communal services of Yaroslavl Region.
Recall that the need to update the improvements at Strelka park in Yaroslavl was discussed back in 2025. Even sketches of the work were published. The design work is being handled by the Moscow company ‘Novye Tekhnologii’ (New Technologies). The contract with them was signed on June 23, 2025. The city will pay 14,971,000 rubles (approximately $149,710 at current rates) for the project.
As specified in the documents for the search of a contractor for the improvement design, currently the territory of Strelka park does not meet the functional needs of society.
“Pedestrian traffic, bicycle movement are not considered, there are no accessible approaches to the walking zones along the perimeter of the territory; there is no surface for comfortable movement of people; insufficient lighting is felt,” is noted in the sketch project by the Center for Urban Territory Development of Yaroslavl.
Earlier at Youth Square, plans were to install a new children«s playground for 27 million rubles (approximately $270,000 at current rates). However, according to data from ‘Goszakupki’ (State Procurement), the tender was later canceled.
