On January 20, 2026, at a meeting of the committee for urban planning, transport, safety, and quality of roads in Yaroslavl, the distribution of funds for improvement was announced. Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Yaroslavl Region, Elena Dmitrievskaya, reported: «50 million rubles (approximately $500,000 at current rates) has been allocated for Strelka, and 167 million rubles (about $1.67 million at current rates) — for Youth Square near the Youth Theater.»
The reconstruction project for Strelka Park has been under development since 2025. In June of the same year, the Moscow company «Novye Tekhnologii» (New Technologies) won a contract for design work worth 14 million 971 thousand rubles (around $149,700 at current rates). At the same time, sketches of the future appearance of the area were presented.
According to the documentation, the current state of the park does not meet modern requirements. In the sketch project by the Center for Urban Territory Development of Yaroslavl, it is stated: «Pedestrian traffic, bicycle movement are not accounted for, there are no accessible approaches to the walking zones along the perimeter of the territory; there is no covering for comfortable movement of people; insufficient lighting is felt.»
As for Youth Square, earlier it was planned to install a children«s playground for 27 million rubles (approximately $270,000 at current rates). However, according to »Goszakupok« (State Procurement), these tenders were subsequently canceled.
