In Volgodonsk on January 28, a rupture occurred on a main pipeline, leaving over 70 apartment buildings and several social facilities without heating and hot water.
Governor Yuri Slusar of Rostov Region commented on the emergency recovery work: «Currently, installation of a new pipeline section is underway to fix the defect. The situation is serious due to the high wear of the pipeline. Consumers have been switched to another circuit.»
Specialists are working round-the-clock. By 18:00, the key stage – pipe end preparation – was completed, after which installation of a new section began.
After welding work is finished, the main will gradually be filled with heat transfer fluid. Connection of residents will be carried out in stages, not simultaneously.
Initially, it was planned to restore heating by 6 a.m. on January 29, but these deadlines were not met.
End preparation is an operation for evenly cutting the pipe end, which ensures a reliable connection when installing a new section.
