On January 25, Student Day, a total ban on the retail sale of alcoholic beverages has been introduced in Volgograd. It is impossible to purchase alcohol in any store in the city, and this restriction applies to all buyers without exception, regardless of age.
Similar bans are also in effect on other memorable dates: International Children«s Day (June 1), the last Saturday in June (Youth Day), and Knowledge Day (September 1). If September 1 falls on a Sunday, the ban on alcohol sales is moved to the next day.
The restrictions are in effect today from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM. In many retail outlets, warning notices appeared the day before, and sections with alcohol were blocked off. Some residents stocked up in advance, but there are also those who continue to try to buy alcohol, ignoring the ban.

They move the notice aside, take the alcohol, and come to the checkout. And when you tell them that alcohol isn»t sold today, they ask: «And for what reason? What notices? Do I have to read too?» Or, another traditional objection: «Well, I»m not a student, not a schoolchild, not a child.« Or: »What, not sold at all?« It is sold! But today is off-limits; you can come for the bottle tomorrow. Of course, everyone has their own logic. But by the end of the workday, you»re already shaking from the word alcohol,» a seller from one of the stores told V1.RU.
