Tyumen Ice Results in Falls and Injuries
A difficult situation with ice has developed in Tyumen, covering roads and sidewalks. Residents are reporting numerous falls and difficulties in movement.
One reader wrote: «Today I went for lunch, I almost ended up in the trauma center a couple of times.»
Another resident confirmed: «On Friday, I went for shawarma, and two people slipped and fell in front of me.»
Several areas have proven problematic:
- sidewalks on Maxim Gorky Street, Republic Street, and 50 Let Oktyabrya Street in the city center;
- Chelyuskinets Bridge;
- Alebashevskaya;
- Zarechny District.
For some, the consequences have been serious. Tyumen resident Grigory said: «The roads are terribly slippery. There are many injured people in the trauma center now. My acquaintance fell on 50 Let Oktyabrya Street, between Melnikaite and Odeskaya. Why aren»t the roads being sprinkled with sand, ash, or salt?«
A request has been sent to the city administration asking them to comment on measures to combat ice. A response is awaited.
The cause of the icing is persistent frosts. The cold weather, conducive to ice formation, has not yet retreated.
