Tree fall causes hot water cut in Tutayev

On the night of 28 January, the right-bank part of Tutayev in the Yaroslavl Region was left without hot water. According to preliminary data from the prosecutor«s office, the chain of events was started by a tree.

«The accident occurred on the night of 28 January this year due to a voltage surge caused by broken power lines after a tree fell,» the press service of the department reported.
The city first lost cold water, and then — hot water. The outage affected 189 apartment buildings. However, heating is supplied to all houses except those where scheduled work is being carried out.
«An emergency shutdown of the boiler occurred at the district boiler house, which led to damage to the convective part of the boiler, causing a significant leak of coolant. In order to maintain heating for residential buildings, the management decided to limit the supply of hot water until the damaged equipment is repaired,» commented Yaroblvodokanal (the Yaroslavl Regional Water Utility).
According to the plan, repairs at the boiler house should be completed by 15:00, after which the boiler will be fired up. Full restoration of the system will require additional time. Yaroblvodokanal predicts that hot water supply will not resume until 6 p.m. at the earliest.
The repairs at the boiler house were inspected by Natalia Eliseeva, the Tutayev inter-district prosecutor. The regional prosecutor«s office has taken control of the situation.
«During the inspection, an assessment will be made of compliance with industrial safety legislation, including issues of maintenance and repair of heating network facilities, as well as legislation on the uninterrupted provision of quality utility services to the population,» commented the press service of the prosecutor«s office.
On 23 January, half of Myshkin was left without cold water. As reported by GP YAO «Yaroblvodokanal», the cause of the shutdown was a technical fault on the central water pipeline.
