Thousands left without power near Rostov

On the morning of January 27, a massive power outage was recorded in the Aksay district of the Rostov region. According to the Emergency Prevention and Response Department, thousands of residents were left without power.
The outages affected three garden non-profit partnerships (SNT) and one hamlet. In the SNT RSM-2, «Sodruzhestvo» (Alliance), and «Globus» (Globe), power supply was interrupted around 1 a.m. due to an accident on a high-voltage line. In the hamlet of Aleksandrovka, on Stepnaya, Studencheskaya, and Bratskaya streets, electricity went out at 7:05 a.m. due to a transformer failure.
To assist those affected, heating points were deployed in the SNT «Globus», «Sodruzhestvo», and the settlement of Kovalevka.
Initially, local authorities reported: «The time for restoring power supply is until the cause of the accident is eliminated.» Later, the administration of the Aksay district clarified that specialists from «Rosseti-Yug» (Russian Grids — South) are switching consumers of the SNT «Sodruzhestvo», «Vityaz» (Knight), «Veteran» (Veteran), «Globus», and RSM-2 to backup power. The estimated time for restoring electricity supply is 1:30 p.m.
Emergency crews are working at the accident site.
