Telecom Equipment Updated in Trans-Baikal Region

Telecom infrastructure is being modernized in the Trans-Baikal Region. This time, equipment was updated in three villages with almost 6,000 residents.
Users in Urulga, Shelopugino, and Nizhny Kalgukan might have noticed the changes. The upgrade of telecom facilities was necessary to expand 4G coverage and improve connection quality. On the existing equipment, telecom engineers activated an additional low-frequency LTE band—this provided range, stability, and high signal penetration from the base station. The work was carried out by Megafon engineers.
‘A low-frequency layer was chosen for the modernization in all three villages because a significant portion of traffic goes through it: 35% of calls are made via this band, and 18% of internet data is transferred. Thanks to the work done, subscribers can use any digital services—from messengers to government services in any part of the settlement,’ said Maria Krylovа, director of Megafon in the Trans-Baikal Region.
Also, the service area for VoLTE technology has increased in these territories—it allows simultaneous phone calls and internet access.
