Student Blocks and Bird Courtyard: A Weekday Behind Ufa's Slavy Boulevard

It«s possible to walk even in freezing weather because when you move a lot, it»s not that cold overall. This time, it was decided to walk through the blocks near the «Slavy Boulevard» stop.

Here is Musa Gareev Square, which runs from the avenue itself and ends at the walls of the former «Salut» cinema. Now, a supermarket is located inside, which quickly became a gathering place for local residents.

Slavy Boulevard is entirely a residential district, with five-story panel buildings all around and a few exceptions. Moreover, some of them more closely resemble dormitories. This conclusion can be drawn by looking at real estate listings. Mostly, there are either rooms or studios converted from full apartments.

On the facades of some houses that stand along the square, there are signs reminiscent of the Soviet era. One of them reads: «Rental of things.» It«s unclear what exactly is meant by »things.«

On a freezing weekday, only schoolchildren and students walk the streets here. Occasionally, local pensioners who dash out, for example, for water, and middle-aged residents going to throw out trash or buy groceries. After all, the weather isn«t very conducive to long walks.

Naturally, you wouldn«t envy those who have to work in such weather. This applies to both street sweepers and construction workers who are clearing space for another residential complex.

As it happens, in this block, in addition to two schools, there are also two colleges, so the percentage of young people on a weekday here is significantly higher than elsewhere.

One of the local courtyards can well be called a bird courtyard. Under the windows, residents have built a house for sparrows, and on the window sills of the first floor, a smorgasbord has been prepared for them. For the convenience of the feathered friends, they even built something like ladders out of ropes. The dining room for pigeons is located several floors higher.

Due to heavy snowfalls and subsequent frosts, almost every yard has formed snow mountains, which local children have repurposed for their own needs.
