Samara Region boosts military contract sign-up bonus

Residents of the Samara Region will receive a one-time payment of 2.6 million rubles (approximately $28,900 at current rates) upon signing a contract for military service. This was announced by the head of the region, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, at a meeting of the operational headquarters.

— Starting February 1, the one-time regional payment to citizens after signing a contract with the military commissariat of the Samara Region or the selection point for contract military service in Samara increases to 2.2 million rubles (approx. $24,400). Including the federal payment, the total amount will be 2.6 million rubles (approx. $28,900). The same payments will apply to conscripts from the Samara Region who sign a contract with the commander of a military unit, — stated the governor.

Also, on the initiative of the heads of a number of cities and districts, a municipal payment is being introduced ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 rubles (approx. $1,100 to $2,200) depending on the territory. This is a payment for assistance in attracting people to contract service.

— It will be provided jointly with leading enterprises. Samara and Tolyatti have already made this decision, and it will be formalized in the near future. Other municipalities are working on the issue. A similar one-time payment of 100,000 rubles (approx. $1,100) is also maintained at the regional level, — added Vyacheslav Fedorishchev.
