Russian MoD Reports Overnight Drone Interceptions in Volgograd Region

A drone threat alert was declared in Volgograd Oblast and remained in effect overnight, as the Russian Ministry of Defense reported shooting down several drones.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported the number of drones shot down overnight over the region. The information appeared on the morning of January 22 on the Telegram channel of the military department.

‘During the past night from 23:00 MSK on January 21 to 07:00 MSK on January 22, duty air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 14 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles,’ the message says. ‘4 — over the territory of Volgograd Oblast, 3 — over the territory of the Republic of Crimea, 3 — over the territory of Rostov Oblast, 2 — over the territory of Bryansk Oblast, 1 — over the territory of Belgorod Oblast, 1 — over the territory of Krasnodar Krai.’

In total, during the night time, from 20:00 MSK on January 21 to 07:00 MSK on January 22, duty air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 31 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles.’

On the evening of January 21, a drone threat alert was declared in the region, and Rosaviation introduced temporary restrictions on takeoffs and landings at Volgograd Airport. The restrictions were lifted only on the morning of January 22, when the drone threat alert was canceled.

According to the online board of Volgograd International Airport, a flight from Volgograd to Dubai was delayed — it was postponed until 16:00 on January 22.
