A traffic light will not be installed at the exit from the Khoroshy microdistrict onto Magistralnaya Street in Chita because this road is a guest route from the airport to the city. This was reported on January 27 to a correspondent of Chita.Ru by Alexander Lomakin, deputy general director of the development company Atoll.

Future plans include multiple right-only exits and a nearby U-turn facility for the microdistrict.

Earlier, residents of the microdistrict reported to Chita.Ru that they face difficulties when turning left onto Magistralnaya Street — across four lanes of fairly heavy traffic. The traffic light installed nearby for pedestrians does not play a significant role for drivers. Moreover, accidents often occur at the intersection.

«We appealed to the city utilities committee and the traffic police to coordinate various options for exiting the Khoroshy microdistrict onto Magistralnaya Street. A left turn from the main exit is prohibited, and a prohibiting sign will appear soon. Exit from the microdistrict is provided only to the right, towards the airport, and then after a certain distance, there is a place for a U-turn. The existing traffic light was installed for pedestrians, including children from Zasopka who attend kindergarten in Khoroshy,» Lomakin said.

He confirmed that a separate traffic light with a section for exiting the microdistrict could solve the problem, but Magistralnaya Street is a guest route: «For this reason, on this section, additional traffic lights, speed bumps, and other structures that limit the speed of traffic are not possible — only speed limit signs and that very sign prohibiting a left turn when exiting the microdistrict, which I already mentioned.»

The publication«s interlocutor added that at the moment, city authorities are considering the option of building an interchange for the convenience of those making U-turns after exiting the microdistrict. The project is currently under approval.
