New Viewing Platform and Stele Planned for Listvyanka This Year

Listvyanka plans to significantly update its public spaces, roads, and tourist infrastructure in 2026. The village is being prepared for its 300th anniversary, which will be marked this year. Irkutsk District Mayor Leonid Frolov detailed the specific changes on his Telegram channel.

A development concept for the village until 2030 was drawn up at the regional level in advance of Listvyanka«s anniversary. It is divided into several stages. This year, a second viewing platform will appear on the shore of Lake Baikal—near the memorial stone honoring playwright Alexander Vampilov.

Its construction began in the autumn of 2025. At that time, piles were installed, and this season will see the addition of decking, railings, and small architectural forms. This viewing platform will complement another similar one at the beginning of Academicheskaya Street with a view of Baikal, a recreation area, and a parking lot.

Also in 2026, a new stele will be installed at the entrance to Listvyanka; the project is ready, and a location is currently being selected. In parallel, a logo and brand book for the village are being developed. Additionally, repairs to Partizanskaya, Chapaev, and Gornaya streets are planned for this year.

Recall that in January 2024, the Architecture Service of Irkutsk Oblast presented a development concept for the coastal village, which by 2035 is to become a «garden city» with a full-fledged embankment and shoreline reinforcement, well-thought-out transport infrastructure, and a unified design code. More details on this were covered in a separate article.
In the summer of 2022, the general plan for Listvyanka was approved. After that, the head of Listvyanka, Maxim Maksimov, told IrCity journalist Alena Kashparova that first of all, attention should be paid to embankment and road projects. According to the general plan, reconstruction of the embankment along Baikal is planned until 2031. In addition, the document provided for the construction of a bridge from Nikola to Port Baikal. But later, the authorities decided to replace the bridge with a cable car.
