Murmansk Trolleybuses Rerouted Due to Power Problems

Due to a power supply failure, trolleybus routes in Murmansk have been temporarily changed, the city's electric transport company said. Here is how they are running now.

Due to a disruption in power supply, trolleybus routes in Murmansk have been forcibly changed, according to the Murmansk Electric Transport Company. As of today, they are as follows:

  • Route 4: General Shcherbakov Street — Schmidt Street — Academician Knipovich Street — Lenin Avenue — General Shcherbakov Street;

  • Route 6: Heroes of Rybachy Street — Lenin Avenue — Academician Knipovich Street — Schmidt Street — Heroes of Rybachy Street;

  • Route 3: Radishchev Street — Polyarnye Zori Street — Radishchev Street;

  • Route 10 — the route remains unchanged: Heroes of Rybachy Street — Polyarnye Zori Street — Heroes of Rybachy Street.

Trolleybus service is now only available in the southern and central parts of the city — they are not running to the Leninsky District to avoid voltage fluctuations. Buses are operating on their regular routes and schedules.

Recall that a state of emergency has been introduced in the Murmansk Region due to power outages. The decision was made at a meeting of the emergency operations center. Street lighting in Murmansk has been temporarily turned off.

The press service of Rosseti North-West reported that the cause of the outage was a technical failure on an overhead power line. Later it became known that five power line poles had collapsed. The Murmansk Region prosecutor«s office has already launched an investigation into the mass power outages. A criminal case has been initiated.

Residents of Murmansk have been told where they can go to warm up and charge their electronic devices.
