In the Leninsky District of Murmansk, rotation of electricity consumers has begun. This was reported by the company «Rosseti».

Rotational (or rolling) blackouts are the alternate disconnection of electricity for different groups of consumers for a set period.

The measure involves alternating limitations on electricity supply: the duration of each rotation period is approximately six hours.

«Rosseti» explained that rotation is necessary for the even distribution of electricity given limited grid capacity. This approach ensures stable operation of vital facilities while allowing residents to use electricity.

Recall that a state of heightened readiness was introduced in the Murmansk region due to power outages. This decision was made at a meeting of the operational headquarters. Street lighting in Murmansk was temporarily turned off.

The press service of «Rosseti Severo-Zapad» (Rosseti North-West) reported that the cause of the outage was a technological failure on an overhead power line. Later it became known that five supports collapsed. Trolleybuses in Murmansk changed their routes.

The prosecutor«s office of the Murmansk region has already begun an investigation due to mass power outages. A criminal case has been initiated.

Murmansk residents were told where they can go to warm up and charge electronic devices. And city entrepreneurs are ready to provide food from their main menu at a discount.

The consequences of the accident are being addressed, «Rosseti Severo-Zapad» brought additional snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles to the emergency site. Meanwhile, communication disruptions are being observed in the region. Major city hotels have joined in to help residents, in them one can charge devices and eat at a discount.
