Magnitogorsk removes slides that 'never bothered anyone'
Residents of Magnitogorsk are confused by the removal of playground slides, questioning who they were in the way of and why.

After the removal of slides in the main ice town in Magnitogorsk, slides in the Ordzhonikidze district were dismantled and covered with sand. In one case, a metal structure was taken apart, in another, a snow slide was ruined, residents told our correspondent.
In «Yuzhny» park, according to residents, there is now no slide either.

«They removed the metal slide at Zhukova 7/1,» said resident Karim, outraged. «It had stood for 30 years and didn»t bother anyone. And all the children slid on it with great joy, and several generations grew up with it.«

Note that two more metal slides remain in the same courtyard. According to Karim, adults slide small children on them.
Veronika lives in Zeleny Log. There, according to her, the slide in «Yuzhny» park was covered with sand the other day.
«It was already covered yesterday. I understand it was covered at night. Because during the day there were always a lot of children there. No one explained anything. The slide served three neighborhoods, and they just took and covered it,» complained Veronika.
The management company (Housing and Utilities Enterprise of Magnitogorsk) responded regarding the slide on Zhukova, explaining that it was most likely dismantled by a road contractor, and the management company is not responsible for that area.
«Most likely, there was some complaint, or it was deemed unsafe,» the management company suggested.
The maintenance of parks and squares, according to the administration, is handled by LLC «MIS». There, the correspondent was refused a comment over the phone.
We asked officials of the district administration what the work on the slides is related to and whether the authorities plan to remove other slides in the city. We will publish the answer after receiving it.
Recall that after the winter holidays, equipment demolished the ice slides in the main town on Narodnykh Gulyaniy Square. The city hall explained that this is related to the end of the holidays. Before that, the slope in Ecopark was closed, where a five-year-old girl broke her collarbone while sliding on a tube. Those responsible for the slide — sole proprietor Yevgeny Hankov and the operator — are under investigation.
