A utility accident in Kushva occurred on January 20 at 19:00 due to a boiler breakdown, leaving 12 apartment buildings without heating. Mikhail Slepukhin, head of the Kushvinsky Municipal District, reported that from January 21 to 26, the city has activated a «Heightened Readiness» mode for all emergency services.
Utility workers managed to connect a backup boiler, but its capacity is insufficient to fully heat the houses. Residents have already been promised a recalculation for heating, as regulatory parameters are not being maintained.
Mikhail Slepukhin clarified:
«An emergency team of adjustment engineers from Nizhny Tagil is working. Under extreme conditions, the team is adjusting boiler No. 1. Why can»t the temperature be raised instantly? Starting unadjusted equipment at maximum or a sharp temperature spike in the cooled networks can lead to mass ruptures on city mains.«
Emergency teams will work at the site without breaks until heating is restored in all affected houses.
Earlier, on January 19, a general medical practice office in the Vostok microdistrict of Kushva was closed. Now residents of this area have to travel more than two kilometers to the nearest clinic.
